SYNTHETIC OPACIFIER
INTRODUCTION
The ceramic tiles industry is growing at a very fast pace, especially in India. Opacifiers form a key ingredient of this industry. Zirconium silicate is in use as opacifier since a long time.
Shortage of zirconium silicate has lead to sharp rise in price making it unviable for application in ceramic industries. Hence it is inevitable to search for alternate opacifiers for the ceramic industry.
Our Research & Development team has successfully developed a `Synthetic' Opacifier - OPASYN. This product is a multi-oxide with high refractoriness and refractive index.

Provides better whiteness to engobe compositions (wall/floor) as compared to zirconium silicate.
Cost effective
Easily attains very low particle size on grinding
Less yellowness as compared to body with zircon.
Helps reduce water absorption
- Engobe for wall / floor tiles
- Opacity results from the reflection and refraction of incident light by finely divided particles in the matrix. OPASYN – 09 provides higher whiteness than Zirconium silicate to engobe compositions for wall and floor tiles. It also reduces the water absorption of the engobe, thus minimising the water mark through tile body. It also provides better cover during engobe application.
