Anti Oxidation Refractory Frit – GF 16R

Carbon containing refractories are the most consumed products in iron & steel industries. MgO – C, Al2O3 – C, Al2O3 – SiC – C etc are the most common consumables in this category. They are applied in several areas like Ladle, converter also in flow control products. In these refractories carbon is usually used in the form of graphite, coke, pitch etc. However carbon is susceptible to oxidation during preheating, wherever required, which generates pores that subsequently penetrated by the molten metal and slag during the casting and refining operation. This eventually reduces the life of the refractories and increases the consumption of the refractories per ton of steel produced. Antioxidant coating mass reduces the oxidation of the carbon which increases the operation cycle of the lining.

Working Principle

Antioxidant Coating mass is applied over the carbon containing refractories by spraying or manual painting. This coating forms an impervious layer over the refractory and same stops the infiltration of O2 through this layer and as a result the carbon does not get oxidized during preheating. However during casting, the coating gets washed by the molten metal but during this period, the carbon in the refractory component gets graphitized and becomes more oxidation resistant.

Refractory Frit –GF 204

Refractory frit is a leadless borosilicate glass, ground to suitable particle size which is used as a bonding agent in refractory masses. It works in an intermediate temperature and helps in binding the masses to give initial strength and also act as sintering aid.

Product Specification

1 Appearance White Powder
2 Loose Bulk density(g/cc) 0.8
3 Residue (240# ) 5%
4 Softening Point (oC) 663.4
5 Linear Themal Expansion at 500o C (%) 0.135
6 pH ( 1% solution) 8-9

Product Application

The product is widely used in basic vibro ramming mass to reduce the sintering temperature. It also provide structural strength at intermediate temperature (500-800o C) of ramming mass.

It has advange over boric acid because it does not micgrate from the compostion so no cracking and hence no chances of structural failure.

FRIT AGN 105

The composition formed by fusing inorganic oxide materials. Due to its low softening point it can be used as a frit for binding the abrasive materials. It gives a good compressive strength at high temperature. It is also stable up to 11000C.

2. Abrasive material binding

Recommended Dosage & Direction Of Use

As per the requirement by adding suitable proportion of it.

FRIT AGN 107

The composition formed by fusing inorganic oxide materials. Due to its very low softening point it can be used as a low temperature binding frit. It can be used for binding the grains for abrasive materials as well as refractory coating purpose where the application temperature is comparatively low.
